Community hem/onc programs are fine but my heart is in academia and I would like to put myself in the best position to go for a program with research, especially clinical trials in solid tumors. Hi all, As the title suggests, I'm curious about the quality of life of a community Heme/Onc physician. I'm currently deciding between a hybrid community vs academic job. When I discuss the community job with attendings, they act like 4d/week in community is the end of the world and unsustainable.

Heme/onc saw lots of different cancers but onc didn't see heme patients (in fact, many medical oncologists I knew actually focused on certain types of cancers like msk, neuro, thoracic, etc.) This is exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you so much for sharing!! Yeah I've only known heme/onc MDs but that makes sense.
