Earlier this week I "called out" my professor for quizzing us on a reading that was not in the syllabus or posted to the class website. I had emailed her during the weekend about the reading but received no reply. The morning of our class she sent out a mass email announcing the quiz on the reading.
It is a fallacy, moral arguments are usually an appeal to emotions and don't hold. Shouldn't result in an automatic fail though, just some point reduction.
