Even then, a spear with PAM and dueling style is going to do 1d6 + 5 + 2 (10.5) vs 2d8 (11) from Planar Warrior. Other option is Monk if you have good enough stats. A shadow monk/horizon walker ranger is a pretty lethal combo. Forge Cleric 1 gets you access to some great spells from the cleric list as well as a +1 weapon/armor. Wouldn't recommend going much further though, since Horizon Walker pops off at higher levels a bit.
