Blackout and Inner Glow are the big-ticket skills here IMO. Blackout is the key skill that lets you Phasewalk often, while Inner Glow is simply reliable healing and survivability, always a plus. Borderlands is one of my favorite games, and still my favorite game in the series. I'm excited for you! Lilith really is a beast, and her skill tree is super versatile. Running an smg and focusing on her elemental tree is a good way to go OP later in the game. Her phase shifting is also a lot of fun, and works as a great "oh shit!" skill in combat.A blaster brick build is really good. If you choose Mordecai, get to the bottom of the left tree asap as it will allow you to ignore shields completely. Roland can also be deadly with the right build. All in all, I would say go with whatever is appealing to you because any character can be OP with the right build.
