I did my own LIM gaskets on my 3400, and with all the new coolant and oil, it ran me about $200 and 10 hours or so, but that was in a freezing garage in January or February of last year. The 3800 is a little easier to do the LIM gaskets than the 3400, as well.

I just had the lower intake gaskets replaced on my 2004 Monte Carlo SS with the supercharged 3800. I also had the two plastic elbows replaced as well as the gasket under the supercharger. I supplied the upgraded intake gaskets, plastic elbows, valve cover gaskets, oil and filter. The mechanic bought the gasket under the supercharger.LIM gaskets, most of the 3.8L cars out there have bad original gaskets. Replacing with the same black plastic seems to yield the same results, more bad gaskets.
