The only reason people use Archer/Red Battlemage, really, is the 12-job restriction: it's the best way to "park" Archer in a spot where it doesn't ruin anything. There's no real active benefit in that combo - you get the fire boost from Burning Bow, but you get that boost in a Black/Red combo too, plus all the OTHER elements.

Single-job Bushi is terrible regardless of whether you get espers - the worst job in the game by a pretty large margin.
