freeing up dex allows a magus to have ideal stats by investing in str/con/int/wis and further boosting by taking dex and cha flaws (usually for more con)Negative Dex still reduces your AC even while wearing heavy armor but I 100% agree that sentinel is a great choice for magus for your reason.
