The amount of things I need to learn seem a little overwhelming, so I'd like to ask for some advice on where to start. Polygroup the mesh using Auto Groups, isolate the main group (which should be our solid shell), then Delete Hidden to get rid of all the extra bits. Make sure you then Close Holes then Check Mesh Integrity and Fix Mesh as needed. You may need to repeat this process a couple of times to iron out any issues. When you say boolean, I notice Boolean ... When looking at Zbrush core, one of my first thoughts was "Glad this wasn't out when I was getting ready to buy, because I might have gotten this version" Zbrush is amazing, gimped Zbrush is not and other tools can be used instead. You should be working in Zbrush's internal optimal size range and only worry about resizing when you export. That's easily done with scale master. Check the unify button in scale master. I've just built a new multipupose workstsion for zbrush/ CAD And photoshop and researched this extensively. But specifically for zbrush a good multicore processor, at least 32gb ram and most importantly an nvme gen 4 solid state drive. This allows data to be accessed and written very quickly. I find it makes a huge difference with zbrush.
