None of these thoughts are new. The pads don't fit very well and unless someone designs a Rivian specific one I don't think any pad will be that great. The tailgate is too thick and the middle tailgate panel interferes as shown in the pics above. The middle panel also makes installation more time consuming.

The entire point of buying a tailgate pad is so I don't have to use additional things (bungy cords, tie downs, etc) to secure my bike. Every other pad on the market works just fine - how could Rivian fail their design in the 1 single place the bike actually contacts the tailgate pad?

You should be wrapping the excess strapping onto itself then using the tie down strap to keep it from unraveling. Leaving them loose like this is why it loosens so easily. 4. It doesn't look very padded along the top of the tailgate compared to various bike-company offerings (that don't fit well because of how fat the tailgate is). And even if it were, bikes don't hang well on the tailgate because of how fat it is. The distance between down tube and fork is not nearly enough for the bike to sit down properly.Easy, fast and makes putting the pad on much easier. The bike isn't super secure due to the extra fat tailgate but with another bungee around the seat tube it didn't budge.
