When I investigated I saw oil all over the alternator and found it coming from the VVT/Spool valve. I purchased the VVT/Spool valve gaskets from Ebay, because Honda doesn't offer them, replaced and resolved the leak. I then clean the entire area good to remove as much oil as possible. 3 months now and so for so good.

Dealer could be trying to avoid a warranty repair on the original work. You should have noticed a leak or a burnt oil smell at some time.
