ARoM is still better imho, but heavy on gameplay and TPS impact. Also the neural heat mechanic of psycasts is a good antispam solution. But I dearly miss the many little cantropes of ARoM like casting a filth sweeping whirlwind and of course the healing spell. Also learning a new spell by consuming a bought, stolen or crafted scroll.

I don't add anything, as I planned out a xenotype, but they point of extra metabolism is somewhat good. If you plan on literary everyone you pick having psychically dull, the the reroll option shouldn't look too bad. psycasts can save you early game and you don't need to add it until late when all colonists have titles / anima linkings.

My best psycaster and leader, reed, is level 9 and has unlocked a portion of the chronopath and archon paths, along with thunderbolt from the staticlord path. So I started a new colony yesterday and thought I give vanilla psycasts expanded a try...next thing I notice is you can power level your pawns psycast abilities using anima trees like crazy. I pushed it so far that my brawler pawn with controlled frenzy, adrenaline rush and blade focus could use killskip and decimate a 12 man tribal raid solo ...You get a free power per level each time you Bestow/Anima Ritual, but you can only get a power once per level this way, so a Level 6 Psycaster can't learn Farskip from Bestowing/Rituals, since they can't Bestow/Ritual any more.
