In a Subaru with EyeSight, "check engine" comes on, EyeSight goes off, mode light flashes...BUT, it may take 2 days for the computer to figure out the gas cap is loose, and another 2 days to figure out that you tightened it.

I just left Subaru with this same issue. It has happened to me three times in the last two weeks. They couldn't replicate it on test drive, the computer codes checked out, and battery test passed. Same thing- at a red light with my foot on the brake, I take foot off when light is green and the engine doesn't kick on.
