The dog had gone on the downwind side of the habitat, and I was standing on the other side, so I knew where she was. The rooster ran across about a 20 foot opening into another patch of habitat. I think ditch hunters can get a bad rap because it gives the impression of being lazy. And ditch hunting is very illegal when after big game like deer but people still do it illegally.
